Week 23: February 6 - 10

At the beginning of the week we'll take part in improvisations that highlight some of the key ways Black people held and contested for power during Reconstruction. Then we'll read two historians that discuss the revolutionary transformations of the era — Lerone Bennett Jr. and Steven Hahn. Finally, we'll write either a piece of historical fiction — a narrative based off of the Reconstruction improvisations we watched and performed — or create some form of poetry that imagines and celebrates this era of Black power. In addition to the reader and journal, you'll submit the narrative or poem on Google Classroom this week.
