We'll spend the majority of this week working on our American Origins Art Project. In the tradition of Black Americans that throughout history have pointed out the contradiction between the founding ideals of the United States and the brutality of slavery that most Black people lived under at the time, we will be using poetry and visual art to try and wrestle with this contradiction at the heart of the American origin story. At the end of the week we'll also complete an end-of-unit reflection.
