Welcome! I'm very excited to meet you all (and see those of you that were in my advisory again)! We'll start our course this week by developing some classroom norms, discussing the importance of studying African American history, and end by looking at some statistics on race and racism in the United States today. In addition. to your weekly reader and journal (explained in the syllabus) you'll submit two assignments on Google Classroom:

1) Exploring the Syllabus

2) To what extent is the U.S. living up to its ideals? paragraph
